Strategy

A two-day creative blitz in November

We explored a plethora of story concepts, but one stood out. A trip to DC was in order – we needed to scout the location and develop an authentic shot list. First-time museum visitors, our experience fuelled our vision for the shots and talent placement.

We created dynamic moving storyboards – visual and audio included – ensuring timing perfection. Our cast? Eleven talents, hand-picked based on personas by JDA. With our shot list finalized, we were back to the museum – cameras ready, excitement high. This wasn’t just filming, it was storytelling – a journey of discovery, creativity…

and impact.

ARRI ALEXA 35 & Cooke S4i’s

Tools

In the world of museums, the ARRI 35 camera and Cooke S4i lenses are the dream team. The ARRI 35 isn’t just a camera – it’s an artist, capturing the soul of exhibits from ancient relics to modern marvels. It adapts like a chameleon to any lighting, spotlighting every unique feature of an exhibit and adding layers to the visitor’s experience.

Enter the Cooke S4i lenses. Famous for their ‘Cooke Look’, they add a stroke of genius to the mix. Sharp yet soft, they breathe life into static displays, making them pop out almost touchably. They’re not just lenses – they’re emotional connectors, binding the viewer to the exhibit.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. The tonal richness of these lenses submerges visitors in an exploration odyssey at the Museum of the Bible. They don’t just see the exhibits – they feel them, transforming each visit into a personal voyage of discovery. With this dynamic duo, you don’t just see the impact of the Bible – you live it

Double Impact: Crafting a TV Spot and Photo Shoot with People at the Heart

Double Duty: People, Pictures, and Film

A museum. Not just exhibits – people. Awe, wonder, alive in their eyes. The tool of choice? The FUJIFILM GFX 100 II. Two tasks at hand: a 30-second TV spot, a photo shoot. Extra time on the clock. Each moment, each interaction, crucial. Visitors meet exhibits. A dance of past and present. Not a tour, an experience. People at the core, always. Two mediums, one story. Moments of awe, frame by frame. Punchy, personal, powerful.

In the midst of it all, a BTS glimpse: Anita Nick, our talent from T•H•E Artist Agency, radiates joy as she interacts with the calendar exhibit. Cassidy Bisher, director and photographer, captures this raw moment, while Creative Director Kristine Deininger and Art Director Taylor Joachim look on, their creative vision coming to life.

Revolutions of Change

In the very heart of the action, we spot Charles Mikell. He’s nestled amongst the intriguing dance of aperture lights on C-stands, a star in his own right. His gaze is drawn to an interactive exhibit – a tribute to the transformative power of visionary thought leaders who have shaped America. A smile blooms on his face, the realization of their profound impact sparking a joy that’s palpable. The snapshot of this moment is a testament to the power of enlightenment and the sheer joy of discovery.

It’s rare that you get to work at such an impactful location as Museum of the Bible, and produce such a dynamic ad alongside a talented team of professionals. I loved the entire process.

Cinematography

Tyler Grimm

“As a cinematographer, my core objective for this 30-second spot was to visually embody the profound impact of the museum. I endeavored to infuse the visuals with the emotional resonance one feels when exploring the museum. Our strategy centered around high key lighting, designed to mirror the sense of awe and enlightenment inherent to these spaces. We aimed to enhance the ambiance and intrigue that the museum naturally exudes. This project was not only a gratifying journey but also a truly delightful experience.”

Having been impressed by the experience of the Bible Museum on a visit with my family a year prior, I was familiar with the visuals and how they present a compelling narrative of the Christian faith. Following in Tyler’s objective as the DP, my goal was to pull from the massive amount of color data of the original Alexa 35 capture to create the sense of realism and presence of being in the space. There are several well-executed displays and experineces that use high contrast elements, so I was careful to not let any highlight or shadow detail get lost. Creating masks around certain objects also helped to bring out a further sense of depth and bring forward the intended focus of each shot.

Original Music

Harmonic Impact

Cassidy Bisher, wearing the dual hats of composer and director, has crafted a composition that seamlessly complements his visual narrative. The piece, driven by piano and underscored with cello orchestration by Grand Rapids Symphony’s Jinn Shin, blends classical depth with modern beats.

Bisher’s work leans towards the dramatically positive and hopeful, a tone captured diligently by producer Joel Ferguson. Key moments are punctuated with timpani hits, lending an element of anticipation and excitement to the composition.

Transitioning smoothly from quiet intrigue to a vibrant climax, Bisher’s piece offers listeners an auditory journey filled with excitement and wonder. His ultimate goal was to create a composition that doesn’t merely entertain, but impacts and moves the audience, taking them on a journey from the dramatic to the positively spectacular, much like the enduring impact of the Bible on its readers.

My goal was to amplify the powerful music and voiceover with dynamic sound effects, creating a sonic journey that leaves viewers wanting more. Despite a complex mix, through collaboration with the director and agency, we refined it to its ultimate potential—a shared accomplishment we’re all proud of.
